Installation Instructions

Step 1 - Download Microsoft Internet Explorer 7

The most reliable web browser for use with FIND4CLOSE.COM is Microsoft Internet Explorer 7 from http://microsoft.com and is the browser that is used by the FIND4CLOSE.COM administrators to provide you with the latest information on properties.

If the message below says anything other than "You're Using Explorer 7" then you will want to continue with this step.

Installing Microsoft Internet Explorer 7 is reasonably straight forward, simply download the file and run the installer. Installing Microsoft Internet Explorer will not remove your existing browser so, if you wish, you can always carry on using it for the Internet.

FIND4CLOSE.COM does not currently support Apple's Mac PCs, but we are currently performing tests in our laboratories to include them in future upgrades.

Step 2 - Download Java

Some components of FIND4CLOSE.COM use a Java Applet to function and these run on a Java Virtual Machine (VM). The default Java VM that is distributed with Microsoft Windows is not adequate and therefore it is necessary to download a more recent version. Sun Microsystems version has been tested and approved for use with FIND4CLOSE.COM.

Step 3 - Download Adobe Flash Player 9

In our efforts to provide you with the richest resources, naturally some of the components in FIND4CLOSE.COM use Adobe Flash Player 9, irrefutable the best and most advanced authoring environment for creating an interactive website. Earlier versions of Adobe Flash Player may not perform as well in the FIND4CLOSE.COM environment and therefore it is recommended you upgrade to Adobe Flash Player 9. The player is very simple to install, simply choose download the file and run the installer.

Step 4 - Download Adobe Reader

Some of the content provided by various government agencies is in Adobe PDF format. The versions vary somewhat, but the administrators of FIND4CLOSE.COM tested Adobe Reader 8 and approved them for your use. Earlier versions may not perform as well on all the content offered.

Step 5 - Enabling Javascript

Almost every browser comes with JavaScript already enabled. If for some reason you have JavaScript disabled, please re-enable it by following these steps:

1. Select Tools > Internet Options from the Internet Explorer's menu bar.
2. In the "Internet Options" window, click on the "Security" tab and then
click the "Custom Level" button.
3. Scroll down to the "Scripting" settings. Select "Enable" for the
"Active Scripting" option and leave others the same.
4. Click "OK" to save your settings.

 

Step 6 - Allowing Pop-ups

Open Internet Explorer 7 and follow the instructions below.

1. Click the Tools menu
2. Click Pop-up Blocker
3. Click Turn off Pop-up Blocker
(If already off, it will offer an option to Turn on Pop-up Blocker)
4. Confirm by clicking the "Yes" button.

 

Streamlining the log-in Process

Each log-in from the FIND4CLOSE.COM home page is performed through a series of four clicks in Microsoft Explorer 7, including one to allow access to your clipboard. Many people find this irritating and time-wasting. The number of clicks can be reduced to one by doing the following:
